A typical day for a Cancer Genetic Counselor involves meeting with patients and their families to assess cancer risk, providing education about genetic testing options, interpreting test results, and coordinating care with oncologists and other healthcare providers. You may spend time preparing family histories, documenting consultations, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and staying current with advances in cancer genetics. The work environment is often clinic- or hospital-based, with a collaborative and patient-centered approach.
