JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern has an opening for the position of Director of Development I for Cancer Programs. This position will fulfill a key role on the fundraising team for UT Southwestern's Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, contributing to advancement of the Cancer Center's clinical, research, and educational initiatives. The position reports to the Director of Development for Cancer Programs and collaborates with all members of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy the challenge of building a portfolio, and have a team-first attitude and collaborative nature.

JOB DUTIES

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of making major gifts.
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of prospective donors and implement solicitation and engagement strategies in support of institutional priorities of UT Southwestern Medical Center.
  • May supervise others in performance of duties.
  • May serve as clinical line liaison. 
  • Build and nurture effective working relationships with administrative leadership, physicians, researchers, and volunteer leadership.
  • Work closely with Stewardship team to identify and implement appropriate stewardship strategies.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the development team.
  • Identify, recruit, and train volunteer leaders who can extend the reach of staff through involvement in the cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.
  • Write letters, proposals, and case materials.
  • Utilize constituent relationship management system to strategically plan and track activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
