About the Role

Under the direction of the Americas Tax Director, the Americas Tax Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of income tax accounting, compliance, and controversy and for supporting the Tax Director with other projects.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively project manage all responsibilities.
  • Independently obtain accounting data from accounting systems.  
  • Manage and resolve all tax authority inquiries for assigned areas.
  • Ensure the tax implications of tax positions are understood and documented. 
  • Monitor legislation, identify impacts on TWE.
  • Identify and support tax savings opportunities.

Income Tax Provision:  

  • Prepare the US and Canada semi-annual Income Tax Provisions under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 
  • Review tax depreciation calculations and fixed asset reconciliations 
  • Prepare tax amortization calculations and intangible asset reconciliations 
  • Prepare or review section 263A calculations: Unicap and Capitalized Interest  
  • Prepare or review Research and Development study calculations 
  • Research and determine income tax positions for international transactions, including BEAT treatment and reporting. 
  • Prepare tax provision journal entries, disclosures, and flux analysis 

Income & Other Direct Tax Returns  

  • Manage all aspects of US and Canada income and treaty-based return filings.
  • Perform annual review of tax depreciation setup in JDE for the Federal, Federal AMT, California, and California AMT 
  • Prepare Form 4562 (depreciation) and Form 4797 (disposals) fixed asset workpapers required for income tax reporting.
  • Provide information for and review International Forms 5472.  
  • Prepare foreign tax credit calculations.
  • Review nexus in states in which Treasury Wine Estates Americas currently claims protection under PL 86-272.
  • Prepare annual US Withholding Tax Returns, Forms 1042 and related balance sheet reconciliations.  

Transfer Pricing and other Related Party reporting: 

  • Manage all US transfer pricing responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Global Tax Team 
  • Collaborate with the offshore RTR team 
  • Support the Americas Tax Director Global Tax team on compliance with OECD Pillar 2. 

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (Master's degree in taxation a plus) 
  • CPA or EA license a plus 
  • 5+ years' experience with US corporate income tax compliance and provision, financial statement reporting.   
  • Experience with manufacturing companies a plus
  • Experience with JDE accounting and Oracle HFM software a plus. 
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting for income tax under either GAAP or IFRS. 
  • Understanding of federal and state income tax regulations.  Experience with international income tax regulations a plus. 
  • Highly organized, accurate and able to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Able to build strong and effective working relationships with individuals at all levels.

The anticipated base compensation for this position is $125,000 to $143,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, internal equity, and market considerations. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation, bonuses, commissions, and/or a comprehensive benefits package, as applicable. The compensation range listed reflects a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position at the time of posting.
