To thrive as a Campus Recruiter, you need strong interpersonal skills, a background in human resources or related fields, and knowledge of recruitment best practices. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment marketing platforms, and sometimes certifications like SHRM-CP are typical technical requirements. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help you engage candidates and coordinate with hiring managers. What are some common challenges faced by professionals in campus recruiting, and how can they be addressed?

Campus recruiting professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating with multiple stakeholders, managing high-volume candidate pipelines during peak recruiting seasons, and maintaining strong relationships with universities. To address these, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, utilize applicant tracking systems efficiently, and cultivate clear communication with both internal hiring teams and external campus partners. Building a structured recruiting calendar and staying updated on campus event trends can also help streamline the process and improve outcomes.

What is campus recruiting?

Campus recruiting is the process by which employers visit colleges and universities to identify, engage, and hire students or recent graduates for internships and full-time positions. This approach helps organizations connect with top talent early in their careers and build a pipeline of future employees. Campus recruiters organize and attend career fairs, host information sessions, and collaborate with career services to attract suitable candidates. The process often includes interviews, networking events, and skill assessments tailored to students’ academic backgrounds.

What is the difference between Campus Recruiting vs Entry-Level Recruiting?

AspectCampus RecruitingEntry-Level Recruiting

Job description

THE ROLE

We're seeking a Campus Recruiter to join our Talent Acquisition team in Chicago. In this role, you'll be a critical on-the-ground presence for CTC's campus program - serving as the primary point of contact for interns, new hires, and internal stakeholders in our Chicago office.

You'll own the day-to-day execution of our campus recruiting efforts, sourcing top talent and coordinating events to elevate CTC's brand. You'll work within a small, collaborative team alongside our Director of Recruiting and Campus Program Manager, and partner closely with our Human Capital Management team and business leaders across the firm.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about campus recruiting, thrives on the details, and is energized by being the connective thread between students, hiring managers, and our broader team. If you love the rhythm of campus recruiting and want to make a meaningful impact at a firm that values teamwork, we'd love to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Events & Program Coordination

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all campus and in-office recruiting events, student organization partnerships and company Super Days.
  • Serve as the point person in Chicago for intern and new hire onboarding and programming.
  • Manage interview scheduling and logistics during peak recruiting season (July-November).

Sourcing & Candidate Engagement

  • Develop and execute candidate sourcing strategies to identify and engage top talent year-round using Handshake Premium and LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines across target universities and student organizations.

Relationship Management

  • Be a great partner to third-party vendors and university career center staff.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and business partners to understand team needs and deliver a best-in-class candidate experience.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 2+ years of experience owning full-cycle campus recruiting, including sourcing through platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter and Handshake Premium
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to track recruiting metrics using Excel
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with at least one applicant tracking system
  • Excited to be the in-office point of contact for CTC's campus program - a go-to resource for interns, new hires, and stakeholders in Chicago
  • A team-first mentality with a dedication to continuous improvement, problem-solving, and collaboration across teams
  • Bachelor's degree (all majors and concentrations welcome)

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience working in Greenhouse Recruiting
  • Financial services industry experience ideally in prop trading, hedge fund, and/or asset management
