DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Multi-Year Campaign team plays a central role in UWGA's fundraising strategy, leading donor engagement, campaign execution, and philanthropic partnerships. The team works collaboratively across Development, Marketing, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align strategy, messaging, and operations in support of a multi-year aspirational giving campaign.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Campaign Operations & Communications is a key leadership position within the multi-year campaign team, responsible for advancing the campaign strategy established by the Vice President of Multi-Year Giving. This role leads the development and execution of campaign communications, collaborates closely with Marketing and Communications on campaign messaging and visibility, and oversees the creation of executive communications, donor-facing materials, proposals, reports, and other strategic deliverables that support campaign success.
Working in close partnership with the Vice President of Multi-Year Giving, the Director helps align campaign priorities, strengthen donor engagement strategies, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality communications and materials that advance campaign objectives. The role is focused on high-impact initiatives, including proposal development, executive positioning, campaign storytelling, stakeholder communications, and enhancing campaign visibility among donors, volunteers, and community partners.
In addition, the Director provides strategic oversight of campaign operations and implementation activities carried out by the Assistant Director, ensuring effective coordination, operational excellence, and seamless execution across all campaign functions. This position serves as a critical bridge between strategy and execution, helping to drive campaign momentum, donor engagement, and overall fundraising success.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Strategy & Leadership
  • Build and manage campaign timelines and workplans aligned with strategic priorities
  • Assign and manage priorities within project management systems
  • Monitor progress toward campaign milestones and goals
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve high-level risks and roadblocks
  • Maintain visibility into campaign progress for leadership

Communications Development & Content Strategy
  • Draft donor communications, including emails, outreach messages, and executive correspondence
  • Write and edit proposals and proposal-related materials
  • Develop one-pagers, briefing memos, and talking points in partnership with marketing
  • Create presentations for Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, and donor meetings
  • Draft stewardship and recognition materials
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all campaign materials
  • Lead review and approval processes for communications deliverables

Executive Office & Leadership Coordination
  • Serve as primary liaison between Vice President, Executive Office, and campaign leadership
  • Draft communications on behalf of senior leadership
  • Prepare and finalize executive briefing materials for donor engagement and/or solicitation visits
  • Ensure leadership preparedness for meetings, solicitations, and engagements
  • Track status of high-priority donor interactions and deliverables

Donor Engagement & Proposal Development
  • Own and finalize the full proposal lifecycle
  • Align donor communications with campaign priorities and strategy
  • Develop stewardship plans and donor-facing materials
  • Guide donor engagement approaches in collaboration with PGOs/PRMs
  • Assemble and refine proposals based on inputs from fundraisers

Events & Campaign Experiences
  • Develop run-of-show and event narrative
  • Draft event communications and messaging
  • Ensure alignment between events and broader campaign goals

Campaign Data & Performance Oversight
  • Define campaign reporting priorities and data needs
  • Review campaign performance data to identify trends and insights
  • Partner with VP to guide forecasting and strategic decision-making

SOPs & Process Design
  • Develop and define standard operating procedures for campaign execution
  • Identify and drive improvements to workflows and processes
  • Establish standards for documentation, reporting, and operations
