Responsibilities
  • The incumbent is supervised by the principal(s) of FSUS, or by another appropriate administrator of Florida State University. They are responsible for planning and conducting classes for FSUS students, for academic advising and related activities, and for assisting with student supervision. Attendance is required at staff conferences and curriculum development activities, with required involvement in action research, creative endeavors, and service.
  • Plans and implements lessons in the subject area assigned. Assesses students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Works with students to challenge them to improve their abilities and proactively address academic needs. Closely monitors learning progress and communicates proactively with families.
  • Action Research: As part of professional responsibilities, faculty are expected to actively engage in action research to inform and improve instructional practices. This process involves identifying areas of instructional need, collecting and analyzing data, implementing strategies based on findings, and reflecting on outcomes to enhance student learning. Participation in action research supports an atmosphere of continuous improvement and professional growth and contributes to evidence-based decision making at both the classroom and school-wide levels.
  • Participates in professional development and research as required and aligned with the mission of FSUS as a developmental research School.
  • Participate in school-wide events, assemblies, and parent nights related to subject assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to all school and district policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Certification or a Statement of Eligibility for State of Florida Certificate and must maintain certification throughout employment.

This position is anticipated to start within the 2026 academic year. The academic school year is 191 workdays, with 8 hours each day. Some summer days may be required.
