Job Title: Camp Director, US Sports Camps / Nike Sports Camps

Location: Sofive Saco โ€“ 400 North St., Saco, ME 04072

Job Type: Full-Time Seasonal

About the Camp:

A Nike Multi-Sport camp is a fun and inclusive recreation camp designed to introduce children to a variety of sport skills, games, and activities in a supportive and engaging environment. Our goal is to foster a love for physical activity, teamwork, and personal growth while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an energetic and responsible Camp Director to lead our camp program operations on-site at our Sofive facility listed above. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, a background in sports or recreation, the ability to manage all program operations on site, and a passion for driving overall growth of the camp. Directors should have experience leading people, organizing, implementing, and managing a vast range of activities across several groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Staffing

  • Hire all camp staff - including assistant director(s) and coaches.

  • Develop a training and development program to enhance the skillset of assistant directors and coaches

  • Schedule staff hours for all weeks of camp based on registration numbers and coach availability

  • Ensure background checks on assistant directors and coaches are completed prior to the start of camp

Curriculum

  • Develop an engaging and fun curriculum with games and activities that are tailored to our camp programs (programs vary by location but can range from: multi-sport, soccer, flag football)

  • Develop different and unique themes for each week of camp (2-3 weeks, depending on location)

  • Create daily schedules of games/activities

  • Generate a list of equipment needed for games/activities

On-Site Camp Logistics

  • Be the first staff member to arrive on site and the last member to leave

  • Responsible for setting up equipment for daily meetings with coaches, check-in areas for parents, and games and activities for campers

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean camp environment and ensuring equipment is gathered at the end of the camp day

  • Engage with parents to answer questions and address concerns

  • Communicate with US Sports Camps to address registration questions

  • Collaborate with the General Manager at the Sofive facility for on-site logistics (i.e. getting lights turned on, etc.)

  • Respond appropriately to any behavioral or medical incidents following camp protocols.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by following camp policies and procedures.

Payroll

  • Track staff hours for payment

Marketing

  • Engage with returning campers to promote additional weeks of enrollment

  • Identify opportunities to drive additional promotions and marketing throughout the camp day

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience managing youth programs/camps
  • Experience working in a school system or possessing strong contacts with teachers and child care professionals is preferable but not essential
  • Ability to create engaging, sport/skill-specific curriculum for multiple weeks of camp
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in management, marketing, sport management or commensurate experience
  • Prior experience with staff supervision and development
  • Two or more years of management and customer service preferred
  • Ability to build solid relations and expand upon current collaborations
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CPR, First Aid, and Epi-pen certification (must already be certified or be willing to earn certification prior to the start of camp)
Work Schedule & Compensation:
  • 10 weeks of Summer Break Camp from the week of June 22-26 to August 24-28

  • 40 hours per week

  • Camps run Monday through Friday; times vary by location.

  • Opportunities outside of the summer season are also available

  • Monetary compensation

    • $20-$32/hour depending on experience

    • Pre-camp stipend of $500 for work prior to Summer Break Camp

    • Potential post-camp bonus
