Job description

Camp Mowkawogan, in Concord, NH, is seeking a Sports Program Leader for the summer 2026 season! If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can support others in your community, gain valuable management experience and cultivate positive culture change - this is the opportunity for YOU!
Our School Based camp, serves youth to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.
The Sports Program Leader plans, implements and leads a specialty program area effectively and safely. They are responsible for the youth in their program area and collaborating with all levels of camp staff to carry out developmentally appropriate activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and supervise a fun and developmentally engaging environment and activities through appropriate techniques
  • Develop and enforce specialty activity and equipment use guidelines
  • Provide ongoing camper programming; support theme days and rainy days
  • Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
  • Build cooperative relationships with coworkers and supervisors
  • Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
  • Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a day camp environment preferred
  • Background and/or education in recreation/physical education preferred
  • Applicable certifications for specialty area
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possess strong organizational and group management skills
  • Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
  • Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work

Position Specifics:
  • Camp season runs 06/22/26 through 08/28/26 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks
  • Pay range $14.75 - $16.75 hr depending upon experience
