Type: Full-Time Seasonal - Non-Exempt

Schedule: Average 40 hours per week during the summer months (7:00A-5:30P) - June, July, and August

Role Overview

Summer Counselors provide direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp program. Provides a high-quality experience for children and parents, grounded in the YMCA's core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and interact with counselors and their group of children
  • Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff
  • Model's relationship-building skills in all interactions
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Y's core values and has a desire to fulfill community needs
  • Provides a high-quality experience to children and parents by planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the Y's core values

  • Generates and implements new ideas and approaches to improve member experiences by seeking out and incorporating diverse points of view
