The Dallas YMCA is currently seeking a Residential Camp Director for our Camp Grady Spruce.
Camp Description
Located on scenic Possum Kingdom Lake in Graford, Texas, Camp Grady Spruce is an ACA-accredited co-ed overnight camp providing campers of all ages with opportunities to participate in exceptional outdoor experiences while learning about the surrounding natural landscape.
Job Description
Camp Grady Spruce YMCA, located on beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake approximately 120 miles west of Dallas, is searching for a Resident Camp Program Director. This role will live on site, coordinating our summer resident camp program, and manage one full-time staff members. This position is responsible for all program deliverables at camp for summer residence camp and weekends and conferences.
Comprehensive Program Development:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the Camp Grady Spruce Summer Resident Camp program.
Operational Oversight:
• Oversee all aspects of the summer camp operation, ensuring excellence in staffing, programming, health and safety, and the marketing/business aspects of the program.
• Create and monitor Summer Resident Camp budget.
Operational Support:
• Assist in other camp operations as needed to ensure the overall success of the camp. Additional support could include assisting other directors train staff to run different activities, helping Outdoor Education with groups, weekend support for retreat groups, and general support across camp to make sure camp is prepared for guests year-round as needed.
Volunteer Support:
• Provide support to volunteers during the Annual Campaign and other campaign-related needs.
Qualifications

• Demonstrate experience in customer relations by responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Organizational Skills:
• Utilize strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs, assignments, and tasks simultaneously.
Interpersonal and Managerial Skills:
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Conflict Resolution:
• Handle controversial situations with finesse and manage difficult individuals, stressful situations, and take initiative when dealing with children and parents.
Judgment and Decision Making:
• Exercise discriminating and independent judgment in various situations.
Relationship Building:
• Establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff, volunteers, YMCA members, program participants, and the public.
Budget Development and Monitoring:
• Develop and monitor a multi-function budget, ensuring financial responsibility.
• Budget responsibility of $1.8 million for summer camp.
Software Proficiency:
• Learn and manage YMCA financial software, Human Resource software (UKG), and program registration software.
Office Operations:
• Proficiently operate all office equipment with accuracy.
Training and Certification:
• Obtain and maintain any required training and/or certifications relevant to the position including but not limited to YMCA Lifeguard Instructor and Climbing Wall, Challenge Course and Zip Line Level 1 certifications.
• Leading Summer Camp staff training and training Summer Camp Leadership staff
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Three to five years of Summer Residence Camp experience preferred.
Five years of experience in supervisory and administrative skills.
Two plus years of leading staff training is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
