Staying adaptable, proactively preparing equipment, and maintaining technical proficiency can help address these challenges and contribute to a successful shoot.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Camera Operator, and why are they important?

Description
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
About Cariloha
Cariloha is an omni-channel brand specializing in luxuriously soft, sustainable bedding, bath, and apparel made from eco-friendly bamboo viscose. Rooted in comfort and conscious living, Cariloha blends Caribbean style with the spirit of Aloha to deliver elevated, everyday essentials.
With over 70 stores across 16 countries, Cariloha continues to expand its global footprint while maintaining a commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. As a Certified B Corporation, we meet the highest standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency across environmental and social impact.
We're looking for team members who are excited to help build a modern, high-growth brand at the intersection of content, commerce, and culture.
Role Overview
This is not a traditional producer role.
We're looking for a high-energy, on-camera operator who can both host and scale a best-in-class live commerce program. This role sits at the center of content, conversion, and creator commerce.
You will:
  • Go live frequently (often daily) and drive real-time revenue
  • Build and manage a network of live-selling creators and agencies
  • Develop repeatable live formats that consistently convert
  • Turn live content into a scalable growth engine across TikTok Shop and emerging platforms

This role is part of the broader Social Commerce team and will also contribute to content creation, campaigns, and brand activations. You should be equally comfortable on camera, behind the scenes, and in the field at events or shoots.
What You'll Own
1. Live Commerce Revenue Engine
  • Own and scale TikTok Shop Live as a meaningful and growing revenue channel
  • Host live sessions regularly (daily/weekly cadence) with a focus on conversion and sales
  • Develop high-performing live formats (product storytelling, bundles, routines, drops, urgency tactics)
  • Drive revenue through compelling storytelling, offers, and real-time audience engagement

2. On-Camera Hosting & Selling
  • Serve as a primary or backup live host
  • Confidently engage audiences with strong presence, clarity, and energy
  • Capture attention in the first few seconds and maintain retention over longer sessions
  • Clearly communicate product value and create urgency that drives purchasing behavior
  • Act as a face of Cariloha's live commerce presence

3. Creator Live Network & Agency Partnerships
  • Build and scale a network of creators and agencies who can go live on behalf of the brand
  • Recruit, onboard, and train live-selling creators
  • Provide scripts, product education, and performance feedback
  • Expand beyond owned channels into a distributed live commerce ecosystem

4. Live Content & Video Production
  • Create and direct high-performing short-form videos that support live selling and product discovery
  • Repurpose live content into TikTok posts, ads, and product videos
  • Collaborate with creators to generate high-quality, conversion-driven UGC
  • Ensure strong execution across lighting, audio, framing, and storytelling

5. Show Production & Execution
  • Own end-to-end live production:
    • Run-of-show
    • Product sequencing
    • Promotions and timing
  • Ensure every live is structured, engaging, and optimized for conversion
  • Manage technical setup and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless execution

6. Performance & Optimization
  • Track and optimize key metrics:
    • GMV
    • Conversion rate
    • Average order value
    • Viewer retention
  • Identify winning formats and scale them
  • Continuously test hooks, timing, offers, and talent
  • Build a repeatable playbook for high-performing live sessions

7. Social Commerce Content & Event Support
  • Act as a core contributor to the Social Commerce team beyond live sessions
  • Create and appear in short-form content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) to support campaigns and product launches
  • Collaborate with creators and internal teams to produce engaging, conversion-focused content
  • Support campaign shoots, creator days, and brand activations as:
    • On-camera talent
    • Live host
    • Or producer behind the scenes
  • Assist with IRL events, pop-ups, and partnership moments, ensuring content is captured and optimized for social and paid use

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with:
    • Creator & Brand Partnerships
    • Paid Media
    • Creative
    • E-commerce
  • Integrate live commerce into product launches, campaigns, and seasonal moments
  • Ensure alignment between live content, paid media, and broader marketing initiatives

Success in This Role Looks Like
  • Live commerce becomes a consistent, scalable revenue channel
  • Strong pipeline of high-converting live sessions and creators
  • Repeatable formats that drive predictable GMV growth
  • A growing creator-led live network beyond owned channels
  • High-performing content that extends into paid and organic channels

Requirements
Who You Are
  • 2-4+ years of experience in live commerce, TikTok Shop, social commerce, or content production
  • Proven ability to drive revenue through live or video-based selling
  • Comfortable, engaging, and confident on camera for extended periods
  • Deep understanding of:
    • TikTok and short-form video platforms
    • Live selling psychology
    • Consumer behavior in social commerce
  • Experience recruiting or managing creators or live hosts
  • Strong instincts for what converts vs. what simply looks good
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Filming (mobile or camera)
    • Lighting and audio setup
    • Editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Comfortable flexing between live selling, content creation, and event-based production
  • Highly organized, scrappy, and execution-focused
  • Available to travel 30-40% of the time

Bonus Points
  • Experience scaling TikTok Shop with direct GMV ownership
  • Background in live selling, QVC-style retail, or direct response marketing
  • Existing network of live-selling creators or agencies
  • Experience running high-frequency live schedules (daily or near-daily)

Compensation & Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Flexible work schedule and telecommuting opportunities
  • Gym membership options
  • Employee recognition programs, including monetary rewards and annual "Live Your Dream" awards
  • Generous employee product discounts and annual product giveaways
  • Company events, catered meals, and a fully stocked kitchen
  • Annual one-on-one financial consulting
