Job description

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months of relevant experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Payload Control System (PCS), a component of the AN/BYG-1 submarine combat system. The engineer will support requirements analysis and management, system and software verification, technical documentation, defect resolution, and integration activities throughout the systems engineering life cycle. The role requires strong reading, writing, and analytical skills and close collaboration with software, test, systems engineering, and program teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, develop, review, and maintain system and software requirements, including allocation, traceability, change impact assessment, and verification planning.
  • Use IBM DOORS to maintain requirements, parent-child trace relationships, verification methods, and supporting evidence.
  • Develop, review, and execute test plans, test procedures, test cases, and test reports for PCS system and software capabilities.
  • Document, investigate, track, and support resolution of defects and work items in JIRA.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional and performance analysis, system design, trade studies, interface definition, system integration, and verification.
  • Support technical reviews and preparation of engineering products using applicable standards, processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses and support root-cause analysis of test and integration issues.
  • Produce clear, accurate technical documentation and communicate technical findings to engineering and program stakeholders.
  • Support system safety activities as assigned, including analysis and documentation associated with safety-critical functions and controls.

Salary Note
