Job description

Overview

NV5 is seeking to fill several Structure Representative positions to support our work across California.   

Responsibilities

The structure representative is responsible for the technical and administrative control of the structure elements of a locally administered project.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements and shop drawing prepared by contractor.
  • Performing calculation and acceptance of temporary structures as used in construction of bridges and structures including falsework, temporary shoring, working platforms, temporary supports.
  • Verify field dimension including vertical and horizontal field control for structures.
  • Ability to review submittals including shop drawings, product data, samples, test samples, QA plans submitted by the contractor.
  • Verify compliance with applicable regulations controlling work including CAL/OSHA and SWPPP.
  • Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications; observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship.
  • Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for review by team leaders prior to submission to clients concerning the structures.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction.
  • General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries will also be expected.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with heavy civil transportation projects, including bridge and/or structural construction
  • Caltrans construction methods and practices, minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Relevant past work experience performing field engineering tasks of increasing responsibility
  • Knowledge of stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
  • A thorough understanding of Cal-OSHA practices and procedures.Knowledge of Caltrans and Greenbook construction practices and the physical characteristics and properties of various bridge construction materials including concrete.
  • Experience in the following areas: foundations, pile driving and CIDH piles, concrete prestressing, bridge deck construction, cast-in-place wall construction, falsework, and shoring.
  • Ability to use an automatic level and transit for the purpose of verifying line and grade.
  • Thorough understanding of Caltrans field methods, practices, and construction office procedures.

  • Business Development experience
  • Local agency and rail experience
  • Storm water Pollution and Prevention Plan implementation
  • Multi discipline and agency coordination

The pay range for this California position is $150,000.00- $200,000 per year. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. .Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.  Base pay information is based on market location and level of experience.
