Description

Providence is seeking a Driver to join our team! We have an opening available immediately in our location in Millersville, MD. If you have a positive attitude, a passion for helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and enjoy being on the road then this position may be a great fit for you! Qualified candidates for the Driver role are good listeners, aware of their surroundings on and off the road, comfortable taking initiative, able to work alone, adventurous, enjoy making connections, and are team players. Drivers will be operating a passenger van, bus or other company vehicle.


Driver Job Type: Full-Time

Driver's Schedule (Millersville): 6:45a-10:00a and 1:30p-4:30p

Driver Compensation: $21.25/ hour


Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting vehicle (using pre-trip) for mechanical safety before beginning route.
  • Driving assigned vehicle over established fixed route at appointed time.
  • Assisting passengers as they enter and leave the vehicle.
  • Maintaining pre-trip inspections booklet, mileage records and manifest.
  • Cleaning the interior and exterior of vehicle on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for obeying all traffic laws as well as understanding and complying with Providence policies and procedures.
  • Performing other functions as assigned by the Director of Programs and/or Transportation Coordinator

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an Driver must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • The ability to perform written documentation and the knowledge or desire to learn the principles surrounding persons with developmental disabilities is required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, squat, push, pull, reach with arms, and handle/feel objects during the proper pre-trip process in which wheelchairs are secured.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that includes but is not limited to: inclement weather, excessive noise, intermittent fumes, smoke or gases, grease and oils.
  • Should have functioning knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.
