Job description

Summary
The Calibration & Metrology Technician performs electrical and mechanical calibration of measurement, test, inspection, and process instrumentation throughout the facility. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining a fully functional calibration and metrology laboratory, ensuring measurement accuracy, equipment compliance, and product quality.
Essential Functions
  • Calibration and Metrology Operations
  • Calibrate and maintain electrical, mechanical, measurement, test, inspection, and process instrumentation throughout the facility.
  • Support manufacturing operations by performing required calibrations on temperature sensors and other products as required.
  • Verify product calibration and conformance prior to shipment.
  • Understand and apply the principles of measurement accuracy, precision, repeatability, and uncertainty.
  • Maintain calibration laboratory equipment and ensure equipment readiness and reliability.
  • Maintain calibration records, equipment history, and usage schedules to ensure compliance and traceability.
  • Vendor and Compliance Management.
  • Prepare outside vendor requisitions for calibration services.
  • Support implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of laboratory and quality management systems.
  • Identify deviations from management system requirements and laboratory procedures and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Report laboratory management system performance and support activities that ensure the effectiveness of laboratory operations.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO/IEC 17025, and other applicable quality standards.
  • Engineering and Technical Support.
  • Assist Engineering with testing and validation activities for new product designs and development projects.
  • Design, prepare, and recommend test setups, fixtures, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate test and calibration data.
  • Write, revise, and maintain calibration, testing, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Create, maintain, and utilize documentation within the Conax Technologies Wiki and related systems.
  • Quality and Organizational responsibilities.
  • Follow established procedures and work instructions with strict adherence to quality and safety requirements.
  • Exemplify core values of integrity, commitment, innovative thinking, customer centric, and teamwork.

Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Formal metrology training or certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of calibration, metrology, manufacturing, or laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience with electrical calibration, temperature calibration, and mechanical metrology practices preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread gages, height gages, indicators, force gages, torque equipment, balances, weights, hardness testers, and gage blocks.
  • Understanding of calibration methods, measurement systems, and laboratory best practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements preffered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications including Excel, Work, and Outlook.
Physical Demands
  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Regular walking and movement throughout the facility.
  • Use of required PPE, including safety glasses.
  • May be exposed to noise, dirt, odors, and other shop-related conditions.

Salary ranges for this position vary by job location and are determined based on experience, reflecting our commitment to recognizing individual expertise and contributions.
Successful Candidate must be able to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) to gain access to technical data. This position requires access to technology that is subject to U.S. export control regulations. Candidates must be eligible for employment in the US and meet the requirements of ITAR.
