Job description
The Value Chain Calf Supply Lead will lead the enrollment of calves into the Beef Value Chain by developing strategic partnerships and supply pathways across the Young Animal segment. This role will partner closely with the Young Animal sales team, including Tech Leads, and will own DBX-related components of the Young Animal strategy, including DBX program growth, data management, compliance, and stakeholder relationships.
This individual will identify calves, growers, and cooperatives for participation in the Beef Value Chain and ensure successful onboarding of cattle and customers related to nutrition programs, data capture, and contractual requirements. The role will work closely with Animal Nutrition, Young Animal, Purina, cooperative partners, and other internal contributors to build supply, expand participation, and deliver value across the chain.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in the cooperative, dairy, or beef space, preferably with beef supply chain and technical nutrition expertise. This role requires a strategic thinker who is comfortable working in ambiguity, can build strong partnerships, and is motivated to support growth across the Land O’Lakes cooperative network.
Ideal candidates with be location in Wisconsin, Eastern Minnesota, Northeast Iowa, Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana or Southern Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify calves, growers, and cooperatives for participation in the Beef Value Chain.
- Ensure onboarding of cattle and customers specific to nutritional programs, data capture, and contractual arrangements.
- Meet or exceed value chain enrollment expectations.
- Develop strategic relationships and partnerships across the Young Animal space.
- Collaborate with Purina and cooperative partners.
- Manage day-to-day operations of young animal supply, especially at the nursery.
- Identify, develop, and enroll new participants in the value chain.
- Contribute to strategies that strengthen competitive positioning and deliver value to all participants.
Basic Qualifications
- Four-year agriculture degree required.
- Five years of experience in the cooperative, dairy, or beef space.
- Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity.
- Ability to build relationships across the value chain.
- Ability to travel 50% to 75%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Beef supply chain experience.
- Technical nutrition expertise.
- Advanced degree.
Compensation
- Base salary is dependent upon experience/tenure and generally ranges between: $93,360 - $140,040
- Target bonus is: 12%
- In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
