Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Principal Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO.

You will help protect our national security while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement. This role supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex systems and infrastructure to proactively mitigate cyber threats to customer networks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deploys solutions to proactively mitigate cyber threats to customer networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our systems and infrastructure meet security, scalability, and performance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, including performance and availability problems.
  • Makes recommendations to improve overall security posture to senior management.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  • Evaluates potential system security risks and takes appropriate corrective, mitigation, and recovery actions.
  • Researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problematic security trends and patterns in customer support requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 4+ additional years of cyber experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years of cyber security experience.
  • Experience with IT system and application engineering background with experience in modern Windows, LINUX, network operating systems, databases, and virtual computing.
  • Experience with certification testing, Risk Management Framework (RMF), information assurance tools, DoD STIG, and vulnerability assessment.
  • Experience with VMWare infrastructure, including vCenter and ESXi configuration and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of network devices (routers and switches), TCP/UDP traffic, firewall technologies, IDS technologies, proxy technologies, and antivirus, spam and spyware solutions.
  • DoD 8570 certification meeting IAT Level II required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with one or more scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Perl.
  • Familiarity with Elastic to include Logstash and Kibana concepts.
  • Knowledge of IDS (intrusion detection solutions) and the implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls.
  • Understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.

Clearance Requirements:

  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
