Job description

Under the general direction of the Cal Expo Chief of Plant and the direct supervision of the Monorail Operations Supervisor, the Monorail Mechanic performs interval service, preventive maintenance and repairs on the California State Fair Monorail amusement ride, ensuring its successful inspection by regulatory authorities and operation during the annual State Fair.

Working Conditions

  • Experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic/robotics engineering
  • Knowledge of safe and proper electrified tram maintenance and operation
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Experience with three-phase electrical conduction and connections
  • Experience with electrical motor diagnosis and repair
  • Experience working with high-voltage electricity, generators, and transfer switches
  • Demonstrates exceptional attendance, punctuality, and dependability
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships
  • Flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to adjust to operational needs
  • Ability to be a team player and do what is necessary to the benefit of Monorail operations
