La Segunda Central Bakery, proudly family-owned and operated for over a century, is a beloved institution known for its authentic Cuban bread, handcrafted pastries, and genuine hospitality. From our roots in historic Ybor City to our café locations across the Tampa Bay area, we are committed to quality, community, and the people who make it all possible.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As General Manager, you will oversee all café operations and lead the front-of-house team to deliver an outstanding guest experience. Your focus will be on building a high-performance team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and upholding the standards that have made La Segunda a household name for over 100 years.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee all retail floor operations and daily shifts
• Hire, train, coach, and mentor staff to achieve peak performance
• Model exceptional service and hospitality for all team members
• Manage schedules, labor efficiency, and customer flow
• Maintain financials: cash handling, P&Ls, labor costs, and performance dashboards
• Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests and employees
• Manage café ambiance including lighting, music, presentation, and cleanliness
• Supervise and coordinate with Pastry Supervisor and Catering Manager
• Monitor inventory levels, place weekly vendor orders, and track waste
• Lead weekly staff meetings and cross-functional communication between kitchen and retail teams
• Uphold safety and sanitation procedures according to local and company standards
WHAT YOU BRING
• Minimum 2 years of foodservice management experience (fast casual or bakery café preferred)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving and team support
• High standards for hospitality, cleanliness, and product quality
• Knowledge of scheduling, inventory management, and labor controls
• ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Spanish-speaking is a plus
COMPENSATION
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Weekly pay on Wednesdays.
