Under-Study is open and already making its mark in Napa Valley. Adjacent to PRESS and led by Chef Philip Tessier and Managing Partner Justin Williams, Under-Study is a café, butcher, wine shop, and bakery designed to deepen the way guests connect with food, wine, and hospitality.

We are seeking a Front of House Supervisor to help refine and elevate the guest experience as we grow. This role goes beyond overseeing daily service — you will help shape the culture, lead a passionate team, and support Under-Study’s evolution as a premier destination for locals and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations across café, butcher, wine, and coffee programs

  • Deliver warm, seamless service and ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for

  • Hire, train, and mentor team members while fostering a strong hospitality culture

  • Manage POS, cash handling, and opening/closing procedures

  • Uphold cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards

  • Support sales through thoughtful guest engagement and assist with events and culinary programming

Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant, café, or counter-service setting preferred

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Calm and composed under pressure

  • Team-oriented, dependable, and positive

  • Flexible availability, especially mornings and weekends

  • Valid Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
