POSITION TITLE: Student Cafe Employee
DEPARTMENT: Auxiliary
SUPERVISOR: Director of Auxiliary Programs
STATUS: Part Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
HOURS OF WORK: 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Essential
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assisting customers, processing sales, stocking merchandise, and performing daily closing procedures
  • Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the store, including but not limited to operating a cash register, downloading reports, and maintaining a clean and orderly cafe and stockroom
  • Communicating discrepancies to the Cafe Manager
  • Organizing displays to maximize space and eye appeal
  • Assisting with store inventory counts
  • Assisting with ideas for services, events, and product offerings to customers
  • Being present and engaging during shifts
  • Assisting with basic food preparation, following essential food safety guidelines
  • Maintain a strong academic standing

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Gilman Junior or Senior student
  • 16 years or older
  • Submission of a signed work permit
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm for working with students and customers
  • Ability to work 5 hours per week (part-time, not benefits-eligible position). Afternoon hours are 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm with some flexibility. Additional coverage opportunities may arise.
  • Customer service focused with a calm and pleasant demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize while working independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community

COMPENSATION:
The compensation for this position is $18.00 an hour.
