About Café Karmic Creations
Café Karmic Creations is Delaware’s first diabetic-friendly all-inclusive café, serving classic café favorites alongside diabetic-friendly, sugar-free and gluten-free options.
We operate as a pop-up-style café, meaning our operating schedule and production needs can vary from week to week. We are a small business, so flexibility, reliability, trust and the ability to work as part of a small team are important.
About the Position
We're looking for a dependable, trustworthy and detail-oriented Prep Assistant to help with food preparation, baking, cleaning and general kitchen production.
This is a flexible position averaging approximately 5–15 hours per week and is best suited for someone looking for a side job, supplemental income, a few extra hours, or a flexible opportunity to return to the workforce.
Hours may vary based on café operations, production, special orders and business needs. A minimum number of weekly hours is not guaranteed.
What You May Be Doing
- Preparing ingredients for daily café production
- Measuring and portioning ingredients
- Preparing batters, doughs, fillings, sauces and other components
- Baking cookies, brownies, muffins and other café items
- Preparing ingredients for sandwiches, meals and specials
- Washing, cutting and portioning produce
- Portioning, packaging, labeling and dating products
- Following recipes, measurements, temperatures, timers and preparation instructions accurately
- Properly storing food, ingredients and prepared products

- High school diploma or GED
- Trustworthy, dependable and responsible

- Good time-management and organizational skills
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Able to follow recipes, measurements, temperatures and timers consistently
- Able to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision after training
- Comfortable working independently when needed
- Understands the flexibility and hands-on nature of working for a small business
- Flexible weekday morning and afternoon availability
- Able to safely operate standard kitchen equipment after training
- Able to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry up to 30–40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Comfortable appearing in occasional photos, videos or other social media content related to the business
- Able to maintain confidentiality regarding recipes and business operations
- Food preparation, restaurant, café, bakery or commercial kitchen experience preferred
- ServSafe Manager certification strongly preferred
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Schedule & Growth
This position is approximately 5–15 hours per week, with days and hours varying based on the needs of the café. This is not a traditional fixed-hour position and weekly hours are not guaranteed.
