What is a CAD CAFM?

CAD CAFM professionals are specialists who use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software to manage, design, and maintain building layouts, assets, and facility operations. They play a key role in space planning, asset tracking, and ensuring buildings are used efficiently. Their work involves integrating design data with facility management systems, often collaborating with architects, engineers, and building managers. This helps organizations optimize workspace usage, reduce costs, and improve maintenance operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CAD CAFM specialist?

To thrive as a CAD CAFM Specialist, you need expertise in computer-aided design (CAD), facility management principles, and a relevant technical degree or certification. Proficiency with CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) software such as Archibus, AutoCAD, or Planon, along with data management tools, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure accurate facility data management, efficient space planning, and successful collaboration with stakeholders.
