We Are Seeking
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Recreation Coordinator - Cactus Yards. The Recreation Coordinator reports to the Recreation Supervisor. The primary job duties of this position include:
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates full time and part time staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; interviews and selects new employees; supervising staff also includes scheduling work, ensuring staff is trained, ensuring staff follows policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy work environment, making hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and/or evaluates the effectiveness of programs, services, and events. Provides or oversees the delivery of sports programming, recreational classes, and coordinates special events. Researches and identifies opportunities for new or modified programs or services. Recommends and/or implements changes to improve and optimize programs; oversees registrations, cancellations, overrides, and proration of fees; monitors programs, responds to and resolves complaints.
  • Oversees operations of a Gilbert facility, programs, and events to include the overseeing and administering of facility use and independent contractor contracts; promotes and schedules facility use, maintain applicable compliance licenses, agreements, insurance and permits; activating/creating classes and programs on registration software.
  • Evaluate facility operations; establish and administer operating policies and procedures for a major recreational facility and/or program; implement improvements and modifications; prepare data and reports on operations and activities including facility use, participation numbers, incident reports, and financial reports; schedules facility and equipment maintenance, works as project manager by overseeing maintenance projects at parks and facilities.
  • Participate in budget preparation; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations, submit budget packages; monitor and control facility and program expenditures.
  • Represents and promotes programs and events, provides public information and customer service delivery. Prepares presentations, educational curriculum, and informational materials. Oversees the delivery and dissemination of information to staff, organizations, school groups and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Tourism, Business Management or related course work.
  • Two years of recreation programming, special event planning, or related experience.
  • Specialization in an event or festival management preferred (Special Event assignment only).
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional preferred.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.
