Cable Procurement Strategy information

What is cable procurement strategy?

Cable procurement strategy refers to the planning and execution of acquiring cables and related materials for specific projects or ongoing operations. This involves assessing project requirements, identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing costs, and ensuring timely delivery of quality cables. Effective cable procurement strategy helps organizations reduce risks, control expenses, and maintain uninterrupted operations by securing the necessary materials in advance.

What are some common challenges faced in a cable procurement strategy role, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Professionals in cable procurement strategy often face challenges such as fluctuating raw material prices, supply chain disruptions, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. To address these issues, it is important to build strong relationships with reliable suppliers, stay updated on market trends, and implement robust risk management practices. Collaboration with engineering, logistics, and finance teams is also key to aligning procurement activities with organizational goals and ensuring timely project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in cable procurement strategy, and why are they important?

To thrive in Cable Procurement Strategy, you need expertise in supply chain management, negotiation, and a strong understanding of the cable industry, often supported by a degree in business, engineering, or logistics. Familiarity with procurement software (such as SAP or Oracle), contract management systems, and relevant certifications like CPSM is important. Outstanding analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills set top performers apart. These abilities ensure cost-effective sourcing, risk mitigation, and alignment with organizational objectives in a competitive market.

Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Network Administrator to join our Infrastructure Operations Team. Comprising network, systems, and GNOC analysts and administrators, this cross-functional team is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation, continuous improvement, and robust maintenance of Anduril's critical infrastructure.
As a core member of this team, your primary focus will be supporting Anduril's corporate and production network environments, providing direct support to internal teams and business units. Your expertise will be instrumental in the deployment, maintenance, and resilient support of highly sophisticated network architectures that underpin our global operations and innovative technologies. You will navigate complex environments spanning on-premises data centers, corporate office environments, and leading cloud platforms, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability across our critical systems. This role requires a proactive administrator capable of identifying operational efficiencies and troubleshooting complex issues within critical network infrastructure, contributing significantly across four major functions: Monitoring and Incident Management, Deployment, Operations, and Tooling / Automation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Network Deployment & Maintenance: Deploy, configure, and maintain robust network infrastructure across Anduril's corporate and production environments, including new offices, data centers, and critical operational sites. Install, configure, and support a wide variety of multi-vendor network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and proxy servers, ensuring highly available and compliant network operations.
  • Network Security & Optimization: Implement, manage, and optimize existing network solutions for corporate environments, focusing on security, performance, and reliability, including advanced routing protocols like BGP and modern datacenter architectures such as spine-leaf. Implement and maintain multi-site IPSec connectivity solutions for secure connections between remote sites and public cloud environments. Routinely audit, enforce, and maintain security policies and protocols for all network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, to meet security best practices and internal compliance requirements.
  • Network Operations & Performance: Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring, proactive troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. Investigate and resolve complex network faults, triage service requests from users, and respond to incident alerts, escalating to engineering teams when necessary. Ensure deployed network infrastructure adheres to configuration standards and maintain up-to-date firmware releases for all network equipment.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management (Network Focus): Operate and continuously refine network monitoring and alerting solutions, ensuring comprehensive visibility into overall network health. Contribute to the implementation of network incident management pipelines, participate in post-mortems for network outages, and assist in generating network incident metric data. Manage on-call solutions (e.g., PagerDuty) specifically for network-related issues.
  • Network Tooling & Automation: Utilize and support the development of automation scripts and tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) to streamline network operations, enforce configurations, and reduce manual effort. Contribute to building integrations between operational tools and evaluate platforms for monitoring, inventory, and ticketing, ensuring alignment with broader Infrastructure automation strategies.
  • Documentation & Inventory: Maintain and update comprehensive documentation of the network topology, infrastructure services, cabling diagrams, IP address allocations, IP routing/switching configurations, and all network infrastructure inventory. Create and update network-specific Technical Support Guides (TSGs) and runbooks.
  • Procurement & Collaboration: Procure network equipment, manage subcontractors involved with network installations, and collaborate with engineering and telecom/LV teams to scope and plan network hardware needs.
  • On-Call Support & Travel: Provide regular on-call support for network issues within a rotating schedule. Travel to remote site locations to evaluate requirements and perform network hardware installs and upgrades.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Administrator, Network Engineer, or equivalent role in a production environment.
  • Solid experience with vendor-agnostic network switching, routing, and wireless technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with network security technologies, including configuring and managing stateful firewalls (specifically Palo Alto Networks, and Panorama), ACLs, and basic traffic monitoring (Taps/SPAN).
  • Proficient technical knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, VRFs, DNS, and QoS, with familiarity with modern datacenter designs like spine-leaf.
  • Experience using network monitoring and packet analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP, NetFlow) to maintain network health and troubleshoot issues.
  • Familiarity with network automation tools and basic scripting (e.g., Python or Bash) to assist with routine configuration and management tasks.
  • Familiarity with host-based networking configurations across Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve common network issues.
  • Experience utilizing enterprise ticketing systems to manage and prioritize a personal ticket queue.
  • Good documentation skills and clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with technical team members and end-users.
  • Ability to travel for remote deployments when required, and participate in a weekly on-call rotation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) in secure or isolated environments.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE, JNCIS, JNCIP).
  • Experience with a variety of network vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Arista, Juniper, PaloAlto).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for network configuration management.
  • Experience in a Zero Trust or BeyondCorp environment.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
  • Experience with high-density wireless deployments and advanced RF optimization techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, site surveys, spectrum analysis).
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade wireless security solutions including 802.1X authentication, Guest portals, and Network Access Control (NAC) integration for both wired and wireless devices.
