Role Overview
The MDU Construction Manager oversees and is responsible for the build out of Zentro's network infrastructure and equipment in Multi Dwelling Units. The MDU Construction Manager is accountable for all aspects of the project from start to finish, working with the property, internal teams and external contractors to complete the build outs on time and on budget. This role also serves as a subject matter expert in the field ensuring that installations are done correctly and to Zentro's specifications.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the construction of network infrastructure installations in multi-dwelling unit buildings. Ensuring they are done to company standards and specifications, providing direction to Network Deployment Technicians as well as subcontractor partners.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects at any given time.
  • Works in the field at various on-going Zentro construction projects.
  • Able to be a primary point of contact for both internal and external stake holders.
  • Proficient knowledge of structured cabling & signal flow (Ethernet/Fiber Optics)
  • Proficient construction project management knowledge/able to execute and track multiple projects and tasks.
  • Accurate scheduling and forecasting of key dates / milestones and overall project completion.
  • Able to work directly with Supervisor and update leadership on status of multiple jobs.
  • Proficient customer service skills, able to represent the company when interacting with customers, property owners, and subcontractors.
  • Reviews, interpret and work with various construction drawings / blueprints, cut sheets, and testing documents.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, grounding bus/blocks, racks and patch panels.
  • Ability to build out IDF closets and dress bundles of cables in closet, with direction of Lead.
  • Set up / install racks, switching / routing hardware, with direction of Lead.
  • Mounting and cabling Microwave Radio / Network Equipment.
  • Ability to terminate Cat3, Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6A Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
  • Accurately test copper cables to required certification.
  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards.
  • Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies.
  • Keep records of progress, repairs, and fixes for future reference.
  • Responsible for drafting the Request For Proposal (RFP) document for third party subcontractor work
  • Responsible for creating the Design Package document to submit to property ownership for review and approval
  • Responsible for creating the Construction Build Out portion of the Bill of Materials (BOM)
Skill and Knowledge Qualifications:
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
    • Bachelor degree preferred.
    • Trade School is desired.
    • Knowledge of BISCI Telecommunications standard a plus
  • Experience
    • Previous experience in a related or similar technical field. Construction, telecom, network service provided experience needed.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong critical-thinking and problem solving, attention to detail and time management skills are required.
    • Proficient Project Management understanding, able to forecast needs of the job.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of telecom infrastructure installation standards.
    • OSHA 10 Certification preferred
    • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
    • Ability to drive to office and job sites
    • Able to pass drug screening and background check
    • Possess a high level of independent judgment within established procedures
    • Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
    • Ability to work varying shifts and hours including: possible mandatory overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
    • Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
    • Ability to work respectively with others and work independently
    • Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
    • Ability to climb and work at elevations from (ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
    • Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
    • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 70 pounds
    • Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
