Job description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists with the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating all activities and programs of the department, including operation, construction, and maintenance of cable telecom infrastructure.
2. Assists the Superintendent with formulating, administering, and maintaining operating policies and procedures.
3. Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the department.
4. Responsible for technical coordination with engineering, contractors, and hardware providers, including technical review of as-builts and verification of invoices.
5. Assists the Superintendent with preparing and monitoring the annual budget as well as 5-year long-range planning requirements.
6. Works directly with external vendors, third-party providers, and associated partners/customers to address service issues.
7. Supervises the preparation of cost estimates for special projects, extensions, and/or significant purchases within the division.
8. Represents department and assumes superintendent responsibilities in his/her absence Responds to customer complaints and concerns.
9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from High School or equivalent supplemented by 9 years directly related work experience, including a minimum of three in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Additional education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, analyze, and understand standard scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, algebra, solid geometry, and trigonometry.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
