POSITION TITLE  

Field Application Engineer - Cable Management

POSITION OVERVIEW 

This opportunity supports cable installation solutions for the data communications and utility markets, with a focus on the datacenter market. The MaxCell flexible innerduct platform serves as the foundation of the Cable Management business, with adjacent solution products including MaxWrap, pulling tapes, and new products planned for the blowable market. This dual role is responsible for customer-facing installation support and training while also helping drive new product development for the market. The installation side of the role involves on-site customer engagement, product trials, and technical support, while the development facet requires partnership with the cable business, product management, product development, and manufacturing to support new product development, launch scale-up, and process improvement initiatives. This position requires a minimum of 50% travel, including international travel. Preferred candidate location is Atlanta, GA, the Upstate South Carolina area, or surrounding areas. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Take a technical leadership position in the defined region for all current and future solutions for the MaxCell and Milliken Cable Management groups. 

  • Provide pre- and post-sale technical support to end users, contractors, engineering firms, distributors, sales representatives, account managers, marketing, customer service, and other Cable Management stakeholders. 

  • Support customer and sales representative trial requests on-site, including discovery, demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials, and gaining the technical close. 

  • Conduct customer and internal product training on product suite installation procedures, driving solution advocacy at the product specification and installation levels of the value chain. 

  • Work with marketing as a technical liaison to support content development, including application notes, instruction manuals, technical marketing content, new product introductions, installation instructions, and product specification guidelines. 

  • Support new product development in all phases, including equipment design, trials, testing, technical support, and collaboration with product management, product development, and manufacturing. 

  • Assist with new product launch scale-up and launch activities for the Cable Management product portfolio. 

  • Verify that certifications and quality control parameters meet product and customer specifications. 

  • Interface with manufacturing on key process improvement initiatives and provide technical support for the existing product portfolio. 

  • Lead RFx response efforts for technical and support documentation. 

  • Remain up to date and knowledgeable on competitive product offerings and technology trends across all market verticals served. 

  • Adhere to and promote environmental, health, and safety policies. 

  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED 

  • BS/BA degree preferred; engineering degree in Mechanical, Optical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent and relevant work experience. 

  • Experience in a customer-facing technical, field service, application engineering, or industrial support environment. 

  • Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time, including international travel. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to support equipment setup, product trials, testing, and troubleshooting. 

  • Ability to collaborate internally and externally to shape ideas, communicate concepts, and support customer and manufacturing needs. 

  • Strong follow-up, organizational, presentation, and technical writing skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a customer-focused, multi-cultural environment. 

  • Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve in challenging environments.
