Job description

Responsibilities & Qualifications

We are seeking a Cable Technician II to join our team supporting DISA JSP ETM in Arlington, VA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 3+ years of related telecommunications experience
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Cable Technician within the DOD environment

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience

Certifications

  • Related certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation

Clearance

  • Must possess a Secret clearance

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support in adherence to BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiently utilize and calibrate network cabling test equipment, overseeing testing procedures and ensuring accurate results.
  • Design, implement, and manage complex telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, and documentation.
  • Supervise cable dressing, termination, and testing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient use of power tools and ladders, conducting regular safety inspections and providing training as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues related to cabling infrastructure, demonstrating advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential areas of improvement in voice and data communications systems.
  • Manage the removal of abandoned cable and enforce strict adherence to cable management standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including clients, contractors, and management, providing updates, and resolving concerns promptly.
  • Deliver exceptional customer support in high-pressure environments, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in all interactions.
  • Conduct thorough problem analysis and implement effective solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Uphold high standards of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work, from cable installation to documentation.
