Cable Technician (Cable Assembly Technician)

Location: Chula Vista, CA (Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Position Overview

A leading defense contractor in San Diego is seeking Cable Technicians to support a Navy program. This role involves assembling cables, building connectors, and performing internal rack cabling for mission-critical systems. Technicians will work on cable assemblies of varying complexity using industry-standard tools and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble cable harnesses and build connectors according to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Perform internal cabling within equipment racks, including routing and securing wiring
  • Cut, strip, and terminate wires; crimp lugs, pins, and connectors
  • Work with large cable gauges ranging from 26 to 8 gauge
  • Utilize hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, and wrenches
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to complete assemblies
  • Ensure all assemblies meet quality and workmanship standards
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and rework as needed


Required Skills & Experience

  • 1+ year of cable assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
  • Experience using basic hand tools (crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Experience working with wires, connectors, and cable termination


Nice to Have
