Familiarity with CAD software, project management tools like Microsoft Project, and knowledge of industry regulations are typically required. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help manage timelines and coordinate teams. These skills ensure that cabinet projects are delivered accurately, on time, and within budget, leading to client satisfaction and successful project outcomes.

A Cabinet Project Manager works closely with designers, carpenters, installers, and sometimes electricians and plumbers to ensure smooth project execution. Effective communication is essential, as the project manager coordinates timelines, resolves on-site challenges, and ensures that cabinetry specifications align with overall construction plans. Regular meetings and site visits help maintain alignment and address any issues promptly. Collaboration with vendors and clients is also crucial to manage expectations and deliver quality results on schedule.

What are Cabinet Projects?

Cabinet projects refer to the planning, design, fabrication, and installation of cabinets, often for kitchens, bathrooms, or storage spaces in residential or commercial properties. These projects typically involve assessing client needs, taking precise measurements, selecting suitable materials and finishes, and overseeing the installation process. Cabinet projects can range from renovating existing cabinetry to creating custom-designed storage solutions. Professionals in this field may work closely with interior designers, contractors, and homeowners to ensure the final product meets both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Job description

Company: Cabinet IQ of Charlotte
Location: Charlotte, NC Metro Area
The Opportunity
Cabinet IQ of Charlotte is looking for an experienced cabinet installer to join our subcontractor network. We have a steady and growing volume of residential cabinet installation projects across the Charlotte metro including retail homeowner jobs and volume builder programs and we need reliable installers who can deliver quality work on a consistent schedule.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position that can handle multiple installs in a week. We provide the materials, the customers, and a pipeline of work. You provide the craftsmanship!
If you're an installer who's tired of chasing your own leads and want consistent, well organized projects with materials ready on time, we want to talk. This could eventually turn into being hired full time by us if that's something you are interested in!
What You'd Be Doing
  • Installing kitchen and bath cabinetry in residential homes (new construction and remodels)
  • Ensuring installations meet Cabinet IQ quality standards and manufacturer specifications
  • Performing field measurements as needed prior to cabinet orders
  • Completing punch list items and touch-ups to ensure the homeowner or builder is fully satisfied
  • Communicating with our operations team on scheduling, project status, and any field issues
  • Conducting quality walks after installation and resolving any outstanding items promptly
  • Maintaining a clean, professional job site
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on cabinet installation experience (kitchen and bath)
  • Ability to read and work from cabinet layouts, floor plans, and design drawings
  • Own tools and reliable transportation to job sites across the Charlotte metro
  • General liability insurance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong attention to detail we build our reputation on clean, quality installs
  • Dependable, communicative, and professional on job sites with homeowners and builders
  • Ability to troubleshoot fit and finish issues in the field without hand-holding
What We Offer
  • Consistent pipeline of installation work.
  • Competitive per-project pay based on scope and complexity
  • Materials and cabinets delivered and staged you show up and install
  • A professional, organized operation that respects your time with quick payments
  • Opportunity for ongoing, recurring work as our builder and retail volume grows
This is NOT a good fit if:
  • You don't have cabinet-specific installation experience (general carpentry alone won't cut it)
  • You can't maintain a reliable schedule and communicate proactively
  • You are not proficient with computers, Excel, or email
