Job description

Job Summary:

An Assistant Controlleris responsible for the daily accounting operations, general ledger maintenance, and ensuring US GAAP/IFRS compliance. In addition, the role will supervise staff, support month-end close, monitor job costing/inventory valuation, maintain internal controls and assist in regulatory compliance.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist with the timely financial close process and support of the periodic forecast/budget cycles
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the accounting team
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Accounts Payable
    • Payroll
    • Cash Management
  • Provide direction and oversight to all aspects of the general ledger, including analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries
    • Manage the general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions
    • Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
    • Verify the accuracy of all job costs as well as the reconciliation of all subledgers to the general ledger (A/P, A/R, cash management, equipment, payroll)
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external year-end audit, including annual Physical Inventory oversight
  • Support Treasury functions within banking platforms
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state, and local tax filings (sales & use tax, real and personal property taxes, and 1099)
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Monitor and develop internal controls to minimize financial risk and identify areas of opportunity to better safeguard assets
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support decision-making processes
  • Manage and perform other duties consistent with the role of accounting professional

Secondary Duties:

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • BA/BS Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or with strong relevant experience. CPA or post graduate finance degree a plus but not required.
  • Minimum five years general accounting or financial analysis experience (preferably in a manufacturing company environment).
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills
  • Proven ability to manage individuals to provide robust data and maintain reporting timelines
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft software applications
  • Individual should be a self-starter requiring minimum supervision and able to work to deliver on schedule
  • Ability to coherently present to stakeholders in written form and verbally
  • Inquisitive mindset looking for continuous improvementand confidence promoting change
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment where approximately 80% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office and manufacturing areas.
  • Duties require normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations.
  • Normal duties involve typical office duties that consist of stretching, reaching, and stooping with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas for meetings and other functions.
