Admissions Application Reader - part-time/remote-Utah/flexible hours

Targeted Start Date: October 1, 2026

The Admissions Application Reader position is responsible for learning and thoroughly understanding the admissions application reading process. In this position, you will be assigned a set of admissions applications to read and score based on pre-determined guidelines. You will play the crucial role of helping to shape the incoming class of BYU students as you support the admissions office in their effort to find applicants who are the best fit for the institution.

To qualify for this position, you MUSTmeet the following criteria

  • Live in Utah
  • Computer and internet access
  • Submit a cover letter and resume
  • Be able to work 20 hours a week even during the holiday season

What you will be doing in this position

  • Review applications and score based on a rubric.
  • Input responses into the reader portal for admissions purposes.
  • Stay current on reader communications and updates through Slack and email.

Additional Information

  • Readers are required to complete approximately 20 hours of work a week from the date of hire through mid-January, including availability during the holiday season. In addition, availability is required during two designated one-week periods in early June and August.

  • Outside of these peak periods, limited opportunities may be available to take on additional hours.

  • This is a remote, flexible position. Readers work from home using their own computers and may complete hours at their discretion, including evenings and weekends. There are no fixed schedules, allowing for significant flexibility in how and when work is completed.

What qualifies you for this role

Minimum Education/Experience required: High school graduation and 4 years of work experience

Preferred: Bachelor's degree from BYU

Skills and Abilities:

Advanced reading comprehension

Ability to effectively manage time

Ability to follow instructions

Responsible and reliable

Ability to keep confidences

Basic computer skills
