Our client in Upper Michigan is currently looking for locums Gastroenterologist to join their team as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • M.D. degree
  • Must be Board Certified
  • Fellowship required
  • Required to be proficient in ERCP. Provider must meet the standard for privileging in ERCP. Meaning no candidate will be considered without providing a procedure list reflective of the below requirement at time of presentation. 
  • Demonstrated current competence and evidence of the performance of at least 25 therapeutic ERCP procedures (20 sphincterotomies and 5 stent placements) in the past 12 months.
  • EUS a plus
  • Skills:
    • ERCP:
      • Liver Biopsy – Percutaneous
      • Moderate Sedation Adult (18+ years)
      • With Biliary Balloon Dilation
      • With Insertion of Plastic Stent
      • With Lithotripsy
      • With Pinterotomy/Papillotomy
    • Lower Endoscopy:
      • Colonoscopy
      • Colonoscopy with Polypectomy / bx
      • Removal of Foreign Body
      • Sigmoidoscopy – Flexible
      • Sigmoidoscopy – Rigid
    • Upper Endoscopy:
      • EGD with Polypectomy / bx
      • Insertion of Plastic Stent

Practice Details:

  • Practice Setting: Both inpatient and outpatient
  • Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + Call
  • Hours/Shifts:
    • Monday – Friday, 8a to 5
    • Saturday – Sunday, on call
  • Endo unit schedules 8a – 2p, M-F.  Average 12 procedures.  They book on the ½ hour. 
    • EGD
    • Colonoscopy
    • PH Studies
    • Manometry
    • Sigmoidoscopy
    • Endoscopy Ultrasonography- not required of them if physician does not practice
    • Peg & Peg-J tube placement – not required of them if physician does not practice
  • Rounding: Both assigned and unassigned patients
  • Patients Per Shift: Variable
  • Call:
    • Call Type: Beeper
    • Call Response Time Required: 20 minutes
    • Call Ratio: 100% of assignment
    • 100% Hands On
    • Average Call Numbers per 24 Hours
      • Phone Consults: Up to 2 per night
      • Patients Seen: 12
      • Admissions: 0. Hospitalists do all admits.
  • Well established and experienced Endoscopy nursing
