Job Description:

At Saab Aerospace Systems in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist for a Human Resources Business Partner role. This on-site role will be a part of the local HR team, which reports to the corporate HR organization. At the West Lafayette site, you will have the exciting opportunity to be part of a team responsible for manufacturing the rear aft section of the T-7 Redhawk military trainer aircraft.

HR Business Partner Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as an HR resource for the West Lafayette location, providing HR support and guidance to employees, supervisors, and local leaders on workforce-related matters, and across multiple shifts.
  • Partner with HR COEs and collaborate with local site leadership to implement and support company-wide HR initiatives, including performance management, talent development, total rewards and recognition, talent acquisition and retention, leave management, workforce planning and policy compliance.
  • Drive employee relations strategies, coaching supervisors on best practices and assisting/ leading investigations in coordination with Labor Relations, as needed.
  • Train new leaders on Saab's HR practices, systems and processes, supporting their integration into their teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Represent Saab as an HR ambassador by participating in industry groups, networking events, and relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Oversight of employee lifecycle, including both professional development and back-up support for the local Recruiter, responsible for high-volume recruiting and onboarding at the site.
  • Partner with HR team to strategize on building local workforce development pipelines.
  • Participate in panel interviews as needed.
  • Contribute to our people-focused culture in alignment with our core values: Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support
  • Provide back-up support for site HR Leader as needed.
  • Must be available to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Other projects and tasks, as assigned, supporting HR and manufacturing operations.

Compensation Range: $92,000.00 - $115,00.00

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field, with 7+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably in a HR generalist or business partner role.
  • Experience in the defense industry is a plus.
  • Strong HR generalist knowledge base needed- including talent acquisition, employee lifecycle management, employee relations, employee engagement, workforce planning, performance management, and HR program deployment.
  • Solid understanding of labor laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (Workday experience is a plus)
  • Critical thinking skills and proven problem-solving skills, demonstrating sound judgment with a focus on fair and consistent decision-making
  • Demonstrated personal initiative and drive for results.
  • Ability to build relationships, advocate for team members, partner with managers, provide HR guidance, and coach leaders on people management.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives with business goals and drive continuous improvement
