Department Summary
The Lundquist College of Business is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus. Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of over 25,000. The Eugene metro area is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are about an hour's drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade Mountains. The Department of Management offers a variety of courses designed to meet the needs of students interested in careers in management, management consulting, and entrepreneurship. Courses taught include sustainable business practices, human resource management, leadership and communication, organizational behavior, negotiation, business writing, and more. The department offers a number of courses of interest to both undergraduate and graduate students. At the MBA level, the management department supports the Oregon MBA's specializations in innovation and entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices, as well as provides two of the core courses that all MBA students take in their first year.
Position Summary
The Department of Management maintains a pool of candidates interested in filling pro tempore positions as needs arise. Pro Tem positions are limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Pro tempore faculty work under the supervision of the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and/or the requisite department head.
The Department is seeking talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning to teach Management and general Business courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses are scheduled to be conducted on campus and in the classroom.
Candidates should be strongly committed to quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, service to students, and contributing positively to our diverse community, and to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Minimum Requirements
Instructor:
• Master's degree. In exceptional circumstances, a BA/BS degree and evidence of substantial professional experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
Lecturer (for those teaching primarily graduate-level courses):
• Terminal degree in relevant field.
Professor of Practice:
• Substantial basis of experience equal to a tenured professor (normally a minimum of 12 years).
• National/international reputation for excellence reflected in a record of significant accomplishments.
• Profile of accumulated professional accomplishments.
• Rich and extensive background in the field.
Professional Competencies
• Ability to deliver inclusive, engaged, and research-led teaching at the college level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support undergraduate/graduate.
• Demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD or other doctorate and demonstrated teaching experience.
