Job description

Since 1952, Lawson Products has worked hard to make our customers' jobs easier by improving their operational efficiency, productivity and overall performance. As a leader in the MRO industry, we partner with customers to make sure they have the right maintenance and repair parts on hand when needed. 

We're looking to fill a temporary role for an experienced Sr. Business Analyst responsible for assisting in the delivery and support of business solutions utilizing Information Technology. This role supports cross-functional departments such as Customer Service, Billing, Pricing, and Sales Operations, utilizing tools and applications, such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management), SAP and other custom tools and applications to support these departments.

Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. Employees work three days in the corporate office and can work remotely the remaining two days of the workweek. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package. 

Responsibilities:

This is a temporary role for a limited period of time. 
  • Manages the relationship between business partners, the IT Department and vendors relative to requirements, solutions, and priorities.  
  • Works with business partners to determine the alignment of initiatives with business goals and value.
  • Develops and maintains advanced knowledge of the capabilities and functions of the assigned applications and software products. Uses this knowledge to recommend optimal solutions to business requirements that best leverage these products using best practice methodologies.
  • Assesses cross-functional impact of changes to business processes.
  • Assists in all aspects of solution development and deployment activities except for coding.  Emphasis will be on scope definition, requirements definition, system configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Develops and documents new processes and solutions.
  • Performs system support activities and ensures production support service levels are met.
  • Assists in upgrade and migration activities, ensuring these meet business requirements and goals.
  • Creates training documents and system documentation.
  • Ensures that IT practices and policies are adhered to and aligned across the enterprise. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in CRM and SAP Quote to Sales area working on multiple SAP and software development projects.
  • Advanced project management skills. Capable of managing concurrent projects successfully. The projects may involve more than five additional resources, be cross-functional, and involve more than 500 hours of effort for the total team. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas in plain language. Good listening skills and ability to fully understand concepts by asking good questions
  • Collaboration and vendor management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Applies a methodical and disciplined approach that emphasizes the long-term perspective.
  • SME with respect to assigned software and application tools.
  • Dependable business acumen, with the ability to separate high-value initiatives from low-value ones and articulate the difference.
  • A capable influencer that can inspire confidence and credibility. Displays a willingness and ability to influence others' opinions where appropriate.
  • Ability to work closely with third party vendors, i.e. system integrator.
  • Strong understanding of CRM and SAP tools in the following areas of Quote to Cash:
    • Order processing
    • Pricing logic
    • Sales operations
    • Customer interactions
    • Workflow and process automation
    • Business performance and customer behavior
    • Customer data - centralizing, accessing, reporting, managing
  • Good understanding of web application architecture and relational databases.
  • Able to translate business needs into terms technical experts can easily understand and respond to.
  • Demonstrates ability to grasp newer technologies relevant to the areas assigned.
  • Utilizes Software Development Life Cycle and Application Security best practices to manage project activities.
  • Prior experience with Oro CRM product preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of business concepts for the functional areas to be supported.
  • Ability to interact with vendors and personnel at all levels of the company to obtain, analyze, and discuss business intelligence processes and solutions.
  • Must be able to query and analyze business data using SAP GUI, a Relational Database tool, or other third-party tools.
The pay range for this role is $110,600 - $132,680.
