Business Development Executive
Position Overview
The BD Executive is responsible for driving strategic clients and managing the entire business development process of these clients, from initial contact to closing. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on business development execution, ensuring the firm is well positioned to win work and deepen relationships. The BD Executive works closely with senior leadership, technical teams, and marketing to identify opportunities, lead pursuits, and support the firm's long-term growth objectives. THIS ROLE WILL SPECIFICALLY TARGET OPPORTUNITIES TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING PROJECTS.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Development
โ€ข Develop and implement business development plans to identify, pursue, and win public and private clients.
โ€ข Identify emerging markets, client sectors, and service opportunities.
โ€ข Develop and manage a qualified pipeline; drive conversions to signed contracts and backlog growth
โ€ข Immerse in market research to understand industry trends, competitive positioning, and client needs.
โ€ข Support annual revenue forecasting and pipeline planning.
โ€ข Achieve goal KPIs on a monthly basis
Client Relationship Management
โ€ข Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
โ€ข Serve as a primary point of contact for targeted accounts and high value prospects.

โ€ข Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long-term retention.

Pursuit & Proposal Leadership

โ€ข Support pricing strategy and negotiation efforts.
Internal Collaboration & Team Support
โ€ข Work closely with engineering, project management, and marketing teams to align business development efforts with operational capabilities.
โ€ข Contribute to a culture of collaboration and accountability.
โ€ข Track KPIs (leads, bookings, revenue impact) and communicate insights to leadership.
Requirements
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
โ€ข 10+ years of business development experience in engineering consulting, A/E/C, or related technical industries.
โ€ข Demonstrated success in winning engineering consulting projects and managing complex pursuits. Particularly projects in Transportation Engineering.
โ€ข Experience working in a matrixed, multidisciplinary environment.
โ€ข Strong understanding of engineering consulting markets, procurement processes, and client expectations.
โ€ข CRM fluency with data-driven pipeline management capabilities
โ€ข Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship building skills.
โ€ข Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically.
โ€ข Results-oriented, collaborative team member with a competitive drive to successfully lead business growth in existing and new markets.
