Position Summary

The Events Business Development Intern will support the Event Sales & Business Development team during one of the busiest conference planning periods of the year. This role provides hands-on experience in event sales, sponsorship fulfillment, exhibitor management, customer service, and conference operations. The intern will work closely with Sales, Logistics, and Vendor partners to support pre-conference planning activities, exhibitor communications, sales outreach, and administrative projects that contribute to the success of large-scale industry events.

The internship will run from approximately February 1st to May 28th, 2027 and is anticipated to be full-time (30-40 hours per week) with a pay rate of $20/hour. This opportunity is ideal for current students or recent graduates interested in events, business development, sales, marketing, or association management.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Exhibitor & Sponsor Support
  • Review exhibitor booth design submissions to ensure compliance with event rules and regulations.
  • Approve or decline booth designs based on established guidelines and communicate decisions to exhibitors professionally and promptly.
  • Coordinate with the General Service Contractor (GSC) regarding booth-related inquiries, compliance issues, and exhibitor support needs.
  • Communicate with exhibitors and sponsors to ensure collection of required items, such as logos, Booth Designs/renderings, Certificates of Insurance (COI's), payments, and other items to support fulfillment.
  • Assist exhibitors and sponsors with event-related questions and requests.
Sales & Business Development Support
  • Conduct outreach to prospective partners through phone calls and email campaigns.
  • Support lead generation and prospect research initiatives.
  • Assist with sales pipeline management and CRM data entry.
  • Track outreach efforts and assist with follow-up communications.
  • Prepare and update sales materials, prospect lists, and account information for business development efforts.
Customer Service Support
  • Partner with the Coordinator to manage a high volume of inbound and outbound phone calls and emails, responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate team members when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of communications and partner interactions.
Event Planning & Administrative Support
  • Assist with exhibitor and sponsor fulfillment tracking.
  • Help maintain event records, databases, and internal project trackers.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Business Development team as needed.
Education, Experience, Skills
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, Hospitality, Sales, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely response to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Professional, positive, and solution-oriented attitude.
