Job description

As a Business Development Manager, you will sell North American truckload, LTL, intermodal, expedited, and
drayage freight brokerage services to shippers and manufacturers across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
You will primarily be selling to shipping, logistics, and procurement contacts at these organizations. This role is
approximately 90% new business development and 10% account management in Year 1. All leads are self-generated
through outbound prospecting — no warm leads or existing accounts are provided. This is a newly created position
reporting directly to the company's owner. The base salary is $60,000 – $65,000 CAD, plus uncapped commission.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$60,000 – $65,000 CAD base salary, plus uncapped commission
Year 1 OTE: approximately $105,000 CAD
Commission is calculated on the gross profit of your own book of business; your commission share
   increases as your book grows
Commission is paid monthly; base salary is paid biweekly

THE COMPANY & CULTURE

Our client was founded in approximately 2022 and is privately owned and owner-operated. Based in Toronto,
Ontario, they are a freight brokerage arranging North American trucking, LTL, intermodal, expedited, and drayage
shipments for shippers and manufacturers across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The company is in an
active growth stage and is currently building out its sales team. The culture is small, hands-on, and owner-led, with
direct, live coaching from company leadership.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

Head Office: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Work arrangement: Office-based, 5 days per week
Sales territory: North America — Canada, United States, and Mexico
Day-to-day selling is conducted primarily by phone; occasional local client visits may be required
Overnight travel: Minimal — less than 5%
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

0–5 years of B2B sales experience, or experience in a junior freight/logistics operations role (dispatch, load
planning, carrier sales, or customer service) with a demonstrated desire to move into sales
B2B, phone-based, high-activity outbound prospecting experience preferred
Industry experience in freight, logistics, or transportation is an asset but not required — full hands-on
training is provided
Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle required
Post-secondary education is not required

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Standard proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) required

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES

90% New Business Development
10% Account Management

On a typical day you will prospect and cold call shippers across Canada, the United States, and Mexico against a
defined call-activity plan, work quote requests directly with the operations team, and manage your own accounts
from first contact through ongoing service.

LEADS

100% self-generated through outbound cold calling and prospecting
No warm leads, inbound leads, or existing accounts are provided

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL

Minimal — less than 5%
Any travel would be for occasional local client visits, not a regular requirement

SUPPORT & TRAINING

Hands-on, live coaching — company leadership listens to calls and coaches in real time against a structured
call-activity plan
Full industry training provided; no prior freight or logistics experience required
Operational support is added behind the role as your book of business grows
