Job description

Job Summary:


We currently have an opportunity for a Manager of Business Development to support a dynamic and growing team engaged in building a pipeline of gas power plant development projects to support growing needs for clean-burning and reliable generation.

Responsibilities:


  • Support project development efforts, working collaboratively with various colleagues (e.g. origination, engineering, procurement, legal, environmental, etc.), on existing and new development initiatives
  • Manage customer relationships in support of development initiatives by maintaining contact records, coordinating touchpoints, and preparing briefing materials (e.g. relationships with landowners, prospective offtakers, community leaders, partners, vendors, etc.)
  • Support analyses, structuring, legal drafting, and negotiations associated with complex transactions for power plant developmnents (e.g. real estate agreements, curative agreements, engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, offtake, fuel supply, permits, precedent agreements, market trends, insurance related matters, etc.)
  • Compile and organize project evaluations and due diligence materials, and draft summaries to support recommendations on long-term contracted investments and new growth opportunities
  • Support responses to request for proposals for new natural gas fired development projects
  • Create business case proposals and presentations for business growth and development opportunities
  • Own the creation, review, proofreading, formatting, and production of materials such as board-quality Power Point presentations, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, business correspondence, financial models, technical analyses, and investment memorandums
  • Develop, update, manage budgets in coordination with financial planning and analysis team
  • Work within company protocols to onboard vendors, establish purchase orders, finalize / execute NDAs
  • Coordinate schedules and team calendars as needed
  • Manage and track major project deadlines, milestones, and/or deliverables and guide them to conclusion in a timely manner
  • Lead and assist with special projects as required
  • Travel up to 50% of the time, as necessary to support project development initiatives
  • Other duties may be required as business needs dictate

  • Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation, and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members and outside counterparties
  • Advanced technical and communications skills, including exceptional data analytics, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • High proficiency in analytical and presentation tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS/mapping tools and other applications
  • Exceptional project management, communications, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to prioritize and work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Willingness to learn, be open to feedback, and be trained in new areas as well as the power generation industry
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed
  • Minimum of bachelors’ degree required, preferred coursework in business, legal, or a technical field; previous experience in the energy industry could be substituted in lieu of a business, legal, or technical degree
  • Relevant work experience that will translate into a fast-paced environment
