Airlite Plastics is a premier, privately held, family-owned manufacturer headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. Our product lines include rigid plastic containers and lids for food packaging, dry powder scoops, plastic drink cups, polystyrene shipping containers, industrial strength insulated concrete forms (ICF), sustainable permeable paving systems, and packaging solutions in the beauty industry.
How do you fit in?
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading Airlite's business development strategies to find and enter new markets and target customers. This role will use the company's capabilities in new target markets that have been vetted by the company. Specific duties include customer relationship management, sales plan development and implementation, sales reporting, objective setting consistent with company objectives, demand generation and sales process optimization.
  • Develop and execute a business development process in collaboration with the leadership team to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of closing incremental sales.
  • Translate and execute performance packaging growth strategies into actionable plans to achieve growth objectives.
  • Research potential targets to create a customized narrative and solution strategy to gain access and advance the prospective sale.
  • Work closely with Marketing and serve as a subject matter expert on trends and packaging disruption to facilitate collaboration and credibility with targets.
  • Actively participate in strategically vetting target markets as defined by the VP of Sales & Marketing and in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Develop a standard protocol for transitioning new business to a Regional Sales Manager once it has been commercialized.
  • Manage, cultivate, and develop major Accounts as assigned by the leadership team.
  • Train sales and marketing personnel on business development processes to refine the team's skills.
  • Publish monthly updates on business development progress to the ELC team.
  • Participate in the bi-monthly Pipeline, Funnel meeting with the ELC team.
  • Manage manufacturer reps and brokers currently representing assigned business sectors; explore growth opportunities within other sales channels.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on trends and solutions to facilitate collaboration and credibility with targets as well as opportunities for new business development.
  • Attend target trade shows and develop leads as assigned.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the packaging industry, experience in the beauty space is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to persuade and negotiate.

  • Ability to tailor appropriate persuasion or negotiation styles for the situation.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to internal and external customers.
