Business Office Manager
Position Summary
The Business Office Manager is primarily responsible for revenue cycle management. This includes but is not limited to accounts payable and receivable, billing, record keeping, data management and information system reports. The Business Office Manager assures accurate and efficient information in accordance with professional accounting practices and government regulations
Responsibilities
  • Accounts Receivable & Collections Management
    Manage private pay and resident liability accounts through accurate billing, payment posting, bank deposits, dispute resolution, delinquency tracking, statement distribution, and coordination with leadership and collections.
  • Medical Assistance Billing & Support
    Assist families with Medical Assistance applications, submit and reconcile monthly state invoices, respond to denied claims, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for families regarding benefits and coverage.
  • Accounts Payable & Financial Records Control
    Process, code, and submit invoices through DSSI; maintain general ledger knowledge; retain financial records per regulatory requirements; and serve as the primary contact for accounts payable inquiries.
  • Financial Analysis, Goal Setting & Operational Efficiency
    Analyze financial data, monitor progress toward departmental goals, identify barriers, implement improvements, and support effective problem-solving to enhance business office performance.
  • Staff Supervision, Training & Professional Development
    Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate Business Office staff in collaboration with the Administrator while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Compliance, Customer Service & Professional Conduct
    Maintain regulatory compliance, resident confidentiality, and accurate records; promote residents' rights, continuous quality improvement, strong customer service, positive workplace culture, and professional relationships across the facility.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Healthcare Business Experience
    Associate degree in accounting, healthcare administration, or business management preferred-or high school diploma with at least five years of healthcare-related business office or billing experience.
  • Technical & Financial Knowledge
    Demonstrated knowledge of accounts receivable, basic accounting practices, insurance and third-party billing, and computerized office systems.
  • Communication & Functional Ability
    Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with staff, coworkers, and upper management; ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Regulatory Eligibility & Preferred Background
    Must pass required background checks per Minnesota DHS guidelines, healthcare, skilled nursing, or assisted living experience preferred.
