Job description

Business Development Specialist, Lead
Responsible for selling the company's products and growing the business. Primary responsibility includes identifying new business opportunities, generating and developing new OEM/VAR partners in order to sell the company's products to end-users. Develops new accounts and/or expands existing OEM/VAR customer revenues. New business pursuits will involve multi-level business development (BD) efforts which will demand building credibility and developing relationships both externally and internally.
Location: East Farmingdale, NY.
Salary: $125,300 - $167,000 per year

Criteria such as the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.
Your Challenge
  • Developing BD strategies that will produce maximum market penetration.
  • Identifies objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short- and long-term orders, sales and earnings.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and business terms. Analyzes market statistics to formulate strategies and promote new growth.
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients. Meets with key clients, maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Establishes and maintains close personal contact with key existing and potential new customers.
  • Plan for and attends a variety of conferences and other external meetings to drive business opportunities and strategies. Able to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Structures, secures approvals, and executes negotiation strategies to capture contracts for new and existing products, programs, and services.
  • Leads proposal development activities including scope definition, capture strategy, pricing support, proposal process improvements, and cross-functional coordination to improve competitive positioning and business growth.
  • Oversees project turnover activities at project launch post-award to ensure proper connection to project inputs from proposal generation inputs inclusive of budgets, make/buy assumptions, risk assessment, and execution strategy
  • Reports to customers and management on market, strategies and execution plans related to new product or market business development.

What You Bring
  • Must be a US citizen
  • 4-6 years experience in Business Development, Engineering, Project Management, or other related fields
  • Knowledge and experience in Naval Defense and/or Commercial Nuclear industries preferred
  • Bachelor's or master's degree preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Possession of strong organizational skills
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept directions on given assignments.
