Job description

The QC department performs quality control checks on rental equipment, updates software and maintains rental equipment, coordinates or performs repairs, pulls and preps equipment for orders, and provides technical support to sales and users. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for all of these functions of the QC department, as well as full management of the QC Technicians, staff training and development, and ensuring that the quality of our rental equipment exceeds our clients’ expectations every time.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains Rentex equipment quality standards as established by Product Managers.
  • Determines training needs and professional growth plans for QC staff.
  • Configures personnel schedules to meet shifting business demands.
  • Remains current on the latest tools and test equipment needed to meet QC demands.
  • Facilitates client tech support phone calls.
  • Evaluates damaged gear and determining repair and/or parts needs.
  • Delegates tasks throughout the QC department.
  • Assists in conducting employee reviews, disciplinary action, applicant interviews and new employee onboarding.
  • Adheres to all Rentex Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assists in the development of new policies and procedures to increase workplace efficiency.
  • Remains current with industry trends and new equipment to be proficient in the field.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
  • Assists or manages other small projects when assigned.
  • Assists other departments when necessary.
  • Follows direction of the department leader and managers.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position may supervise 5-10 employees. This includes providing daily direction on work, holding individuals accountable for their specific results, and developing the skills of QC Technicians. The QC Manager works in collaboration with the General Manager on hiring, performance reviews, discipline, and termination of employees.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a warehouse environment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to work with objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are subject to change and may rotate. Needs of the business may dictate long hours and weekend work during high-demand periods.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or a GED
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and manage time in time sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with fluid priorities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work some weekends, after-hours, and on call as needed.
  • Possesses 3-5 years’ professional experience in AV, rental, or event production.
  • Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of A/V gear with troubleshooting experience
  • Basic networking, GhostCast, SharePoint, PC and Mac OS skills a plus
  • Work with mangement to create daily routine checklist by May 31st.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possesses 3-5 years’ experience working with audio, broadcast, computer, and video equipment in a production environment.
  • Possesses experience working with projection systems.
  • Strong understanding of wireless systems and basic network topology.
  • Demonstrated leadership/management experience.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management and macro view of workflow
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and manage time in time sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with fluid priorities on a daily basis.
  • Experience with Rental Tracker Pro
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
