Position: Inventory Control Lead/Supervisor
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Description:
The Inventory Control Lead/Supervisor oversees Central Stores operations, inventory accuracy, and the receipt, storage, issuance, replenishment, and tracking of parts, supplies, and materials. This role directs the Central Store Clerk and partners with Maintenance, Purchasing, Production, Shipping, Receiving, and Finance to ensure materials are available, records are accurate, and storeroom operations run efficiently. Depending on candidate qualifications, the role may function as either a Lead or Supervisor position.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of Central Stores and all inventory control activities.
  • Direct and support the work of the Central Store Clerk
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for maintenance, production, and operational supplies.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute cycle count and physical inventory programs.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory transactions to ensure materials are properly received, issued, transferred, and adjusted within the ERP system.
  • Establish and maintain storeroom organization standards, including labeling, location management, and inventory storage procedures.
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure critical spare parts are properly stocked and readily available.
  • Coordinate replenishment activities with Purchasing and vendors to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Analyze inventory usage trends and recommend stocking level adjustments.
  • Review and manage obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Generate inventory reports and communicate inventory performance metrics to management.
  • Support month-end and year-end inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory and material control.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures and work instructions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, housekeeping, and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching discussions.
  • Train, develop, and mentor Central Stores personnel.
  • Establish work priorities and assign daily responsibilities.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, disciplinary action, and employee development activities.
  • Support departmental budget planning and cost control initiatives.
  • Drive accountability for inventory accuracy and storeroom performance.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
  • 3+ years of inventory control, storeroom, warehouse, materials management, or supply chain experience.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience managing MRO inventory and spare parts inventory preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting skills.
