Job description


This position will be domiciled at a FedEx Freight location in Memphis, TN or Harrison, AR. You will be required to work at a FedEx Freight Location several times per week.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Lead a team of modernization analysts and IT product delivery support professionals, and service as a strategic partner to senior Commercial IT leadership and will own the Commercial IT modernization value narrative, roadmap orchestration, and portfolio governance to ensure work in flight delivers measurable customer revenue, and operational outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Own and drive the Commercial IT modernization roadmap, aligning, initiatives priorities, enterprise strategy, and commercial value outcomes.
  • Lead discovery efforts across Commercial IT and business stakeholders to identify modernization opportunities, industry trends, risks, and future state (horizon) initiatives relevant to the organization.
  • Synthesize discovery insights into clear, decision ready-recommendations, value cases, and prioritization proposals, coordinate hand-off of approved initiatives to MDs and Manager for execution.
  • Provide portfolio governance and PMO oversight across Commercial IT modernization initiatives, including tracking progress, risks, dependencies, contingencies, and key milestones.
  • Establish and maintain a clear “value story” for the Commercial IT portfolio, ensuring initiatives are explicitly tied to improved customer experience, revenue enablement, operational scalability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Act as a cross functional connector, facilitating alignment across Director and Level teams; remove blockers, surface tradeoffs, and drive clarity on priorities and sequencing.
  • Provides a clear operational connection point for IT professionals within the Commercial Portfolio, leading a team responsible for discovery, analysis, readiness, and day-to-day modernization support, helping surface trends in learning, capability needs, and team effectiveness that support business outcomes.
  • Enable execution through the team’s embedded support, coordinating product analyst of similar capability support with VP and Directors to accelerate problem solving, analysis, and delivery readiness.
  • Drive decision quality communications for senior leadership including concise status updates, risk assessments, and recommendation-based materials that enable timely action.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks and dependencies including technology decoupling, organizational readiness, capacity constraints, and change impacts.
  • Lead stakeholder communications and change enablement activities supporting adoption, team health, capability building, and cultural alignment during the modernization journey.
  • Manage special projects and tactical modernization efforts as required to address emerging priorities, executive asks, or driven needs.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, data, and security strategies, partnering with relevant IT leaders to maintain coherence across the modernization portfolio.
  • Directly lead and develop a team of modernization office professionals, ensuring clear roles, coaching, performance feedback, and strong day-to-day execution across the modernization portfolio.
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Five (5) years’ experience in business, computer science, information technology, engineering.
  • Proven experience in portfolio management, PMO leadership, direct management, modernization offices, program leadership, or similar strategic oversight roles.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to translate strategy into prioritized, measurable initiatives and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading discovery, shaping solution recommendations, leading large teams (direct employees and/or project teams) and handing off initiatives to delivery teams for execution.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and cross functional influence skills, including the ability to operate credibly with VP and executive level leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strength in storytelling, value articulation, and decision ready executive communications.
  • Comfort working with metrics, risk management frameworks, dependency tracking, and progress reporting across complex portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, communications, and culture shaping efforts that improve adoption, alignment, and team effectiveness.
  • Experience operating and leading teams in complex, Multi initiative environments undergoing transformation, separation, or largescale change preferred.
