Position Summary
The Business Analyst I is responsible for formulating and defining scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems, technology available, and industry requirements. The business analyst is responsible for providing insights and suggest improvements to existing and new software applications. This position will work alongside the software development teams and perform detailed requirement's analysis, documenting processes, planning and coordinating unit, integration and acceptance tests. The business analyst is responsible for enhancing the quality of products and services, the ability to prepare data and data visualizations to inform business decisions, and finding technical solutions to business needs. The business analyst helps monitor and maintain technical applications such as Websites, CRMs, LMS and serves as IT support for technical issues.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists with developing/modifying procedures to solve complex business problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results.
  • Possesses some technical knowledge of all phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
  • Develops and maintains written project documentation such as; applications including best practices, processes, user friendly procedures, project scope, business process document, RACI, and RAID(l) logs.

  • Assist in editing and revising written documentation such as test plans, user stories, use cases, business process model and notation, in collaboration with users.

  • Provides data analyses and ad-hoc reporting through the use of research and query tools.
  • Collaborates with the Information Technology Services staff to understand requirements in creating, upgrading, and maintaining of programs, databases, and reports.
  • Assists in identifying, compiling, and delivering required metrics by proactively managing multiple data sources. Continually reviews and finds ways to improve current processes for greater efficiencies and reduction in non-value-added activities working in partnership with key stakeholders internal and external stakeholders. internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generates, distributes and maintains a concise set of standard reports that provide insight into operational statistics, performance, and trending.
  • Participates in a team that develops software applications and interfaces as well as in the process of uncovering business goals, shaping them in clear and understandable terms, and identifying and evaluating a range of solutions.
  • Researches and analyzes system problems. Tests systems and database functions, upgrades and/or patches, as well as new third-party software or hardware implementation to ensure proper functioning of systems.
  • Serves as internal developer to develop custom applications for business users using low-code technologies. Provides data stewardship for assigned systems for data accuracy, conformity, integrity in accordance with established in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Begins to learn and develop reports and dashboards of data and information using SQL, SAS, or other reporting languages/tools.
  • Understands data entry standards according to the data systems data steward guidelines and UI/UX interfaces for assigned systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree and one (1) year of related experience including systems implementation experience OR
  • PMI Professional Certification in Business Analysis (PBA) OR
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements of the position

Preferences:
  • Experience with system testing (unit, integration, and acceptance)
  • Experience in higher education, or tools such as Workday.

Additional Information
  • At this time, employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Candidates selected for the role are expected to relocate and establish residency within a reasonable timeframe following acceptance of the offer.
  • This position follows a hybrid work schedule. New hires will initially work on campus to support onboarding and team integration. After approximately one month, employees may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week, with a minimum of three days per week on campus.
