Job description

The Business Analyst / QA Lead serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical delivery team while leading quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle. This position is responsible for eliciting and documenting business requirements, managing the Agile product backlog, coordinating user acceptance testing, validating solution quality, and ensuring software releases meet business, technical, accessibility, and security requirements.

The Business Analyst / QA Lead collaborates closely with project leadership, software developers, and stakeholders to support the development, enhancement, modernization, and maintenance of enterprise business applications utilizing Agile methodologies. This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC. 

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Lead requirements elicitation through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and business process analysis.
  • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Develop business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Create Epics, Features, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and process documentation.
  • Maintain and prioritize the Agile product backlog.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirements review sessions.
  • Develop workflow diagrams, process maps, and business process documentation.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  • Coordinate functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Validate software functionality against business requirements.
  • Track software defects through resolution.
  • Verify production readiness prior to software releases.
  • Support release planning and post-release validation.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare business requirements documents, user guides, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Validate Section 508 accessibility compliance.
  • Support documentation required for security and operational readiness.

Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as the primary functional interface between business users and the development team.
  • Facilitate meetings and communicate project status.
  • Support demonstrations, training sessions, and end-user adoption activities.
  • Assist with change management and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing business analysis for enterprise information systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supporting Agile software development projects.
  • Experience developing business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting software testing and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar Agile lifecycle management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) Background Investigation.
