Job description

About the role:
Deaconess Illinois is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance Department. This role supports the Controller, Director of Financial Services, and Finance Supervisor by performing advanced financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting in support of strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will bring strong healthcare finance or accounting experience and a solid understanding of budgeting, analysis, and financial operations within a hospital or healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Continue to perform the essential functions of Level II finance roles.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Level I and II staff.
  • Collaborate with Administration and Department Leaders to help set hospital strategic direction through data-driven insights.
  • Stay current on accounting issues, trends, and new regulations; assist with implementation of updated guidelines.
  • Support ongoing efforts to improve processes through automation and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all financial and operational data.
  • Comply with all Standards of Employee Conduct.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of related experience and/or training required. Healthcare accounting or finance experience strongly preferred.
  • Preferred Credentials: CPA or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from a reputable university.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting and financial analysis software, databases, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings to leadership.

Compensation and Incentives:
